Electronics Recycling Fees

« Return to "Consumer Information"

The EHF is not a tax. It funds the Return-It Electronics program.

As of August 1, 2009, the Environmental Handling Fee (EHF) that is levied on the sale of new products in the designated categories has been adjusted. One-hundred percent (100%) of the program revenue will be used for the administration, collection, transportation, and responsible recycling of end-of-life electronics.

Products not regulated within the program will not have a fee levied and, consequently, will not be accepted at Return-It Electronics Collection Sites.
